Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (1819–1892) was an Italian historian. He was known for the founding of the magazine Yearbook of the Italian nobility in 1878. == Biography == Son of Peter, native of Chiavenna, was born of a noble and ancient family of remote originally from Milan and was a teacher in various colleges. Founded in Carpi the College Prince Umberto, was then director of the National College of Imola. He is remembered for having founded in 1874 to Fermo the "Giornale Araldico" (Journal heraldic) and the following year in Pisa the "Accademia Italiana d'Araldica" (Italian Academy of Heraldry), then the "Regia Accademia Araldica Italiana" (Royal Academy Heraldry Italian). He become very famous writer at his time, and one of the top figures in the world of all time, for study of heraldy and genealogy, thanks to his writings. Among these stands out, especially, the magazine Annuario della Nobiltà Italiana (Yearbook of the Italian nobility) that he created in 1878 and the Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane (Historical Dictionary-Blasonico of noble families and notables Italian), in three volumes, given to the prints in 1886. From the marriage of Giovan Battista di Crollalanza with the Countess Maria Ginanni Ravenna was born in 1855 Fermo Goffredo, who succeeded to his father in the direction of the magazines. Famous heraldist himself Goffredo Crollalanza, was secretary of the Accademia Araldica italiana (or Accademia Italiana d'Araldica, the Royal Italian Academy of Heraldry), after living several years in France as a journalist and novelist. From 1892 until his death in 1905 was the second director and compiler of the Annuario della Nobiltà Italiana.
